Updated: Oct 11, 2022
Magnesium is the fourth most important required mineral in our body that supports hundreds of biochemical reactions such as:
* Production of energy
* Muscle recovery
* Bone and joint health
* Supports the nervous system
Magnesium deficiency is linked to many conditions such as:
* Diabetes
* Hypertension
* Heart disease
* Stroke
* Osteoporosis
* Migraines
* Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

Only 1% of total body magnesium is found in the blood, the rest is found in the bones, muscles and heart. The magnesium that is naturally present in food is not harmful in quantity. However only some of magnesium intake through food is actually absorbed by the body. While it is mainly found in the Dead Sea, it can also be found in certain rich foods like:
* Leafy vegetables
* Avocado
* Dark chocolate
* Legumes
* Some fatty Fish
* Nuts
* Banana
* Tofu
* Seeds
* Whole grains
While almost all of us are magnesium deficient, most often it goes unnoticed and is overlooked by us. Make sure to eat a balanced diet and up your intake of the foods listed above to maintain your health. Eating right and exercising is never boring!
